Brocks Hill

Volunteering

Summary

This page contains information about volunteering opportunites at Brocks Hill Country Park

Much of the maintenance in the park is carried out with the assistance of our site based volunteers, the Brocks Hill Volunteer Rangers.   The group usually meet every Wednesday morning although there are always further opportunities to help out during the week.

The seasons tend to dictate the programme of work carried out throughout the year.  The autumn and winter period is when we spend most of our task days working within the woodland areas.  Spring and summer is when the majority of our wildlife is active so we tend to switch our work from habitat management to routine maintenance; which can entail fencing, installation of furniture or tidying the planted beds around the Visitor Centre.

Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided at break times but please bring some lunch and any other drinks required if you intend to stay later.    Sufficient warm and waterproof clothing is always needed as tasks often involve getting grubby and the weather can be changeable!

A quarterly volunteer newsletter, 'The Badger', lists all workdays, previous workday reports and seasonal news about the park.

If you are interested in joining our volunteers, please contact us for further details on Leicester (0116) 257 2888 or send us an email. Unfortunately due to insurance requirements, we cannot accept any volunteers who are under 18 years of age.
