Residents of Oadby and Wigston to have their refuse collections changed to reduce climate change gasses. - 22/02/2010

From the sixteenth of February most of the residents of Oadby and Wigston will see the day their refuse and recycling is collected changed to a new day.

As a council dedicated to reducing the effect of harmful green house gases, new collection routes will be introduced that will reduce fuel usage and introduce efficiencies that will assist the role out of even more recycling services.

The Oadby and Wigston Council, which is amongst the highest performing local authorities in the country in recycling, has bold plans to do even better through more efficient working patterns.

Details of the changed collection days can be found on the advice leaflet delivered to every resident, from the council web site, or by calling the council offices on Leicester (0116) 257 2830.

Councillor Bill Boulter, Chair of the council’s Residents’ Services Committee says: The council is dedicated to improving the environment. By reducing the fuel it uses, and seeking to provide better and more efficient recycling services, we can reduce our carbon footprint without any additional cost to our rate payers. We have plans in place to help those residents who put waste out on the wrong day, but their help to get it right first time will be greatly appreciated.
